Colonic Hydrotherapy

Colonic Hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the large intestines. The colon is one of the most important organs in the body for maintaining good health.

70% of the body's immune system is found in the colon. So if the colon is over-burdened our whole health system may be put under stress. The Allerton Health Centre has been providing colonic hydrotherapy for many years, helping to treat a wide variety of problems. By introducing filtered and temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through the natural movements of the bowel, known as peristalsis. The elimination of waste, gas, mucus and toxins allows vital nutrients to be better absorbed, leaving you feeling healthy and rejuvenated. The benefits of colonic irrigation can often be quickly observed in the form of improved bowel function together with clearer skin, increased mental clarity and fewer headaches. Colonic irrigation can also help with immune system, inflammatory problems and weight loss programmes, particularly when accompanied with diet and lifestyle changes. The initial consultation will involve a recording of the patients's case history and an explanation of the colonic irrigation procedure. The colonic treatment itself takes about 30-40 minutes during which we may use abdomen massage to stimulate the release of stored matter.

How many sessions do you need?

The number of sessions of colonic irrigation that a patient will need, very much depends on the goals of the individual. Our therapist will discuss this with you, however most people find that three treatments provide the best results.

Prior to your first colonic treatment it is beneficial to not eat heavy meals (i.e. meat, fried food, pasta or bread) for 24 hours. Please try to avoid eating for 2 hours before your treament in addition to remaining well hydrated. The more preparation you do, the more satisfying the results.

Is colonic irrigation safe?

Yes. The filtered water is low pressure so there is no danger of perforation. All equipment used is sterile and disposable. Your modesty is preserved at all times.

At Jennifer Green Health and Wellness we use the Toxygen Model hydrotherapy device (shown above). This is a state of the art machine which cleanses the entire colon using filtered water. The machine is a 'closed system' which produces the most comfortable of procedures whilst maintaining the dignity of the patient. There are no open areas and so there are no offensive odours. The water will enter the colon through a disposable plastic tube and waste material will exit through the tube and into the drainage system. The therapist remains in control of the entire procedure, altering the temperature and pressure according to each individual, thus ensuring effectiveness, comfort and most importantly, safety. The machine has an in-built water treatment system. This removes any particles or debris that may be in the water as well as reducing the amount of chlorine. Additionally, with the use of the Ultraviolet light section, this destroys 99.9% of any bacteria that may be present in the water. All in all, this machine produces the very cleanest of waters to use during the treatment.
