Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths use massage, physical manipulation and stretching to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Osteopaths may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Osteopathy can help various conditions for the young and old:

  • Back and neck pain

  • Sciatica

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Hip pain

  • Knee pain

  • Post pregnancy back pain

  • Sports injuries

  • Whiplash injury

  • Headaches

  • Postural problems

  • Arthritis

  • Repetitive strain injuries

The benefits of osteopathy are well known, but it would be a mistake to think that all pain will miraculously disappear after the first treatment. We all heal at different rates depending on many factors such as the length of time of the problem, the severity of the damage and inflammation, and the severity of nerve irritation. Healing is an individual thing and each of us responds in an individual way to treatment.

At the first appointment a full health history is taken and a thorough examination is made, with close observation of posture, mobility and signs of restricted movement. Examination of the painful area will be followed by specific treatment where appropriate.

All our osteopaths are fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOC) so you can be reassured you're in good hands.
